Victoria is close enough to Vancouver. Great place to go for one day especially for the walk. Beautiful city and I always have a good time with my family when I’m there. Empress Hotel afternoon tea might be a tad pricey but it’s worth the experience. This contest is about afternoon tea after all. Might as well mention the best of the best. :)

I really enjoyed a recent escape to Bowen Island. A favourite restaurant there is Artisan Eats. Fresh, flavourful food. Croissants made and baked on-site. Very good. And while there you also must visit Cocoa West Chocolatier. Amazing espresso hot chocolate made with spiced organic flaked chocolate.

Tom Douglas’ Serious Pie in downtown Seattle holds the best pizza crust I’ve ever had in my life. This stuff is life-changing. It’s got a thin cracker crust, but a bubbly edge that holds just a touch of charred bitterness. The tomato sauce they use tastes fantastically (it’s a word I assure you) fresh and sweet – and the topping are all local and seasonal. I don’t think I’ve ever actually dreamed of a food product before until I had this pizza. Aaaaaand now I find myself drooling over it…

One of my favourite drives is up the Fraser Canyon. Lytton is an awesome spot and Kumsheen River Rafting has a nice French restaurant where I had some nice duck confit.

Whistler – Merlin’s Bar & Grill.  Pretty self explanatory I think if you’ve ever been here…

My favourite destination has got to be Seattle – I used to go there every weekend with my parents when I was a kid. One of the best cheap and delicious eats has got to be Paseo – it’s this little hole in the wall but so good! The Midnight Cuban Press is my fave sandwich!

If you like Mexican food, like I do, I suggest driving south to Burlington. There is a very nice restaurant called El Gitano.  They have the best salsa that I have eaten anywhere.  They do have a Sunday brunch if you would like to taste a range of authentic Mexican food. I do enjoy eating a pork burrito with chile verde sauce, and a Pacifico.

For me, it would be at Whistler, and the Elements Urban Tapas, a really great place for tapas and a good time with friends.

  • Renee Siu

The Cheesecake Factory in Seattle wins it for me. I don’t know what it is about that restaurant chain, but I just have to visit them whenever I’m in the states.  @reneesiu:twitter

One of my favourite restaurants outside Vancouver is Romano’s Macaroni Grill in Victoria. I love the italian food, and operatic singers that routinely perform.
