French Toast

French Toast

Since I was at the corner of Main and Alexander to have my breakfast, I was very curious to know who Deacon was as this wasn’t his corner. After breakfast I discovered that my waiter Tyson Reimer’s grandfather built the original Deacon’s Corner on the Trans-Canada highway outside of Winnipeg and it was a truck stop for diner food. Now we all know the story behind Deacon’s and this isn’t a truck stop but it is a great diner serving up large portions of your breakfast and lunch favourites. I had the French Toast ($9) with 4 big slices of French toast and hash browns (I substituted the ham, bacon or sausage for the potatoes) which had a hint of orange and was a nice touch. The menu has an extensive selection of egg dishes, omelets, scrambles, pancakes and for a nominal price you can add on some extras, though I am not so sure how you could eat more than one of these big dishes. The lunch menu looked good as well and next time I am going to have their Grilled Cheese. Vancouverites are always looking for Breakfast and Brunch spots and this is a sure winner to fit that bill.
