I love Mexican food and am always quite excited to learn of a new Mexican restaurant opening in the city. It is about time that a cool new authentic taco joint has opened in Vancouver. La Taqueria is authentic Mexican and they specialize in tacos but not just any tacos, as it is all about the fillings and what goes inside, all fresh and locally sourced when available, free-range meats, sustainable fish and organic vegetables and the right amount of spice. Since I love Mole, I ordered the Pollo Con Mole ($2.50) maple hills chicken with chocolate mole sauce on soft corn tortilla and the Pescado ($2.50) grilled seasonal fish with pico de gallo on soft corn tortilla, there are many other tacos on the menu, 12 different toppings to choose from (including the 4 vegetarian choices)., each one is $2.50 so you can mix and match or order a combo of 4 tacos for $9.50. If you decide to sit inside at one of the bar stools, the place is small and limited in seating. La Taqueria offers 3 different salsas and two kinds of pickles these include Chile de Arbol, Chipotle and Verde, and Red onion and Jalapeno pickles – at no extra charge and you will find them behind the bar. The guys who have created this taco joint are already on their way to being successful with their venture since the place has been packed since the day they opened. Hopefully they’ll open a couple more of these taqueria’s around the city and spice up the city with more of their great Mexican eats.
