Advice: Go early for breakfast, make a reservation for lunch or dinner. Sit in one of their booths.
I wish that I could live here and dine from breakfast, lunch and dinner and be served by these amazing servers day in and day out, but there is this reality that sets in when I am not travelling or on vacation. This unique restaurant is located in the Four Seasons Hotel, though it is a culinary destination for locals and travelers alike. Breakfast is extraordinary, they offer a breakfast buffet and not just any ordinary buffet, it is gourmet of high culinary standards, my favorite is the Grouse Mtn ($23) which includes BC Farmhouse cheeses, smoked and candied salmon, breads and their famous bread sticks, hot and cold cereals including home made granola, fresh fruits, breakfast pastries, yogurt, milk, juices, smoothies and coffees and all of this is gourmet. You could always order the Cypress Mtn ($31) that includes the Grouse as well as hot selections of egg dishes, waffles, pancakes, sausages, potatoes and more. Then you move on to lunch which is a varied menu of soups, salads, sandwiches and entrees as well as desserts. My favourite on the lunch menu is the Pink lady/cheese sandwich ($15) for dinner my favourite is the Braised Beef Short Rib Rigatoni ($28), Wilted Arugula, Pine Nuts and Pecorino
YEW is named after the rare indigenous Pacific Yew tree and the décor here is very NY vibrant, high ceilings, large windows, wood paneled walls, natual rock and a fireplace add warmth and bring the British Columbia landscape inside, so like I said why ever leave this extraordinary dining room. A communal table for twenty is made from a single slab of hand-hewn western maple and is available for lunch and dinner dining. There is also a sky-lit private dining room enclosed in glass – great for those hosting a private dinner party and who want to be seen. The dessert selection is divine and the service is top notch.
